Condicote Barn Renovation: MHB steel

As the window supplier for this unique stone barn conversion and extension project, we played a vital role in enhancing both the aesthetic appeal and functional performance of the building. Working alongside Tyack Architects, we helped transform this elevated, remote countryside site in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) into a modern yet sympathetic living space, surrounded by agricultural fields and enriched with green roof landscaping and wild meadows.
A key feature of the project was the use of MHB thermally broken steel windows and doors, chosen for their exceptional performance and minimalist, elegant design. These bespoke steel systems were integral to maintaining the barn’s rustic charm while introducing a contemporary edge to the newly added extensions. The slim, strong profiles of the MHB windows and doors allow for expansive glazing with minimal visual intrusion, seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor spaces while maximizing natural light.
The design approach was influenced by the site’s existing context and views, emphasizing sustainability while respecting the building’s agricultural heritage. The traditional materials and detailing of the original barn were harmoniously balanced with the modern aesthetic of the new additions, with the MHB steel systems providing a durable and visually striking solution.
Through precise virtual modelling, the project team identified potential challenges in advance, ensuring the smooth integration of the MHB windows and doors into the structure. We are proud to have contributed to this remarkable transformation, where the blend of old and new is beautifully complemented by the sleek, thermally efficient steel glazing systems.
