Schuco has achieved the seemingly impossible, delivering the slimmest aluminium façade system in the world while still meeting the requirements of Passivhaus Institute certification.
The launch of Schuco’s FWS 35 PD Panorama Design façade system represents a line in the sand. With a uniquely slim façade of 35mm and certification from Passivhaus with a Ucw value of 0.79 W/m2K, this is a significant development for aluminium glazing design.
Schuco’s aim was to deliver the slimmest possible face-width without compromising on thermal performance. By utilising a new fixing system, it was possible to reduce the face-width of the façade while still offering two levels of insulation – HI (highly insulated) or SI (super insulated). The system can accommodate double and triple glazed units, from 22-50mm thick and with weights up to 250kg per transom, and there’s also a heavy duty version that can carry up to 400kg.
As you would expect from Schuco, the new aluminium windows continue to deliver on all levels – including three drainage levels for superior durability, ventilation systems that have been tested under the most stringent conditions and a burglar resistance class of EN 1627 RC2 to meet the requirements of PAS 24:2012.
New features of the FWS 35 PD façade include prepared pressure plates with pre-loaded gaskets and insulating foam to reduce preparation work, plus a gasket system that allows it to be easily combined with other Schuco products. They also use an innovative method of attaching the façade to the building which ensures reliable ventilation and drainage around the attachment, while delivering on efficiency at both ground- and first-floor levels.
The system’s comtemporary styling, with sharp-edge profiles, makes it ideal for high-end residential and commercial buildings. To find out more about incorporating Schuco’s innovative designs into your next project, call Cotswold Windows, UK sales partner and installer for Schuco on 01242 620780.
